What is ADAS?

WHAT ARE ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS (ADAS)?

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are a suite of sophisticated technologies designed to enhance vehicle safety and improve overall driving experience. These systems include features such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and collision avoidance. ADAS utilizes a combination of sensors, cameras, and radar to monitor the vehicle’s surroundings, anticipate potential hazards, and assist the driver in critical situations. These technologies are pivotal in preventing accidents, reducing the severity of collisions, and enhancing overall road safety. By providing real-time alerts, assisting in vehicle control, and even intervening in emergency situations, ADAS acts as an extra set of eyes and hands for drivers, mitigating human errors and significantly reducing the risk of accidents. As a comprehensive safety feature, ADAS contributes to a safer and more secure driving environment for both drivers and pedestrians.

WHAT AFFECTS TO ADAS?

In addition to windshield replacements, new tires, new headlights and brake work can also throw off ADAS system calibration. If you replace a bumper or add any aftermarket vehicle accessories, calibration may be necessary. Winter or muddy driving conditions can temporarily affect these systems, as well, when debris covers sensors on bumpers, car panels or windshields.
